A Husband's Gift

I know it's probably hard for you to imagine people who don't listen to the radio, but I am one of them. But my husband has recently discovered Spotify. (I know it is hard for you to imagine people who haven't yet Spotified). Anyway, he has, through that, "discovered" Fernando Ortega and introduced his music to me.

One of the songs implanted in my heart now is Ortega's "In the Morning When I Rise." Oh, my.

"In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus...

"When I am alone, give me Jesus....

"When I come to die, Give me Jesus...

"You can have all this world, but give me Jesus."

It is a good prayer. These simple lyrics start my day with a sense of quiet calm and remind me that He is only a prayer away. I think of people I know who sometimes feel alone. "God, give them Jesus." The lyrics remind me of my mortality, and they promise hope that He will be with me in my transition Home. Who among us will take any of our worldly possessions with us when we make that journey? Father, help me stay focused on the most important.
