"Therefore He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them" (Hebrews 7:25).
From a Bible study on Hebrews, Engaging God's Word, p. 79: "As your high priest, Jesus is also interceding for you. What do you think He might be praying about for you?" I never thought of that.
My immediate response was “freedom.” Our friend Doug Dalzell grew up in foster care and was adopted when he was 18. He told us one time that he lived behind a protective brick wall, but every now and then, he would punch one of the bricks out. The question presented here made me think of that. Even though I sometimes try to hide, I realize I don’t have a wall. The love of God has destroyed that for me. Hebrews 4:13 says we have no place to hide -- “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” He is our hiding place, a safe place to be. “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7).
God knows me so well. I sense He wants me to come out of hiding since I have not done a very good job of it. Thank you, Lord, for reminding me. Help me make the most of every opportunity. Amen
