The Perfect Zero

Zero. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. What’s so good about a zero? If a zero is standing by itself, it hardly gets noticed. But add a friend, like a 1 or a 2 or a 3, then a zeros increases the friend’s value to 10, 20, 30. Maybe it’s not much to look at, but a zero has purpose. It is not just a circle with a hole in the middle.
What is your value―or your child’s value? Oh, I’m nothing; he is nothing. We’re just zeros. I don’t amount to much. I’m too round, too short, too quiet, to make much of a difference. And he’s too little, just a squirt. But consider the single zero. Take a number, perhaps a number you’d like to see in your bank account, a number like $1,000. Now, remove a zero. Then remove two zeros. Here, let me hand you the phone to call the bank. If two zeros are missing permanently from your bank statement, you may need a box of tissues. And all that pain from numbers that don’t mean much unless they’re supporting others.

When you look in the mirror, you may see insignificance, even question your purpose. But consider the zero, and take your stand. Stand with a family member, a stranger, a friend. Believe your significance. Just being who you are adds value to relationship. You add more value than you realize. You are a person of great worth. Others need you, and you need others. Where would that perfect 10 be without her zero? Now get out there and be who you are. Work it. Strut your stuff. Be glorious.
